Andy Chapman: My name is Andy Chapman from Chapman Opticians. I have 6 practices which are located around Worcestershire in the Midlands. So my experience of the Varilux X Series has been really positive. On a daily basis I do a lot of computer work, and also I will be visiting practices and discussing things with managers. And that will mean I have a need to both look at a computer screen as well as looking at them face-to-face. As soon as I put on Varilux X, I immediately noticed that the intermediate area of the lens was very different. It was more pronounced. It did give you that broader, deeper level of vision which I had heard would be the benefit of the lens, and it is definitely the case.
Mo Jalie: I first got into wine during my late twenties. We’re very lucky to be surrounded here in Sussex by sparkling wine vineyards. It’s very helpful to be able to read the label completely, even the small print, which one can do with progressives. The subtle alterations to the power profile between the distance and arm’s length vision, and again, arm’s length to near, compared with the parent S Series, make the intermediate and near vision transitions more comfortable for the wearer. Varilux X Series is the first progressive design to offer customized corridor lengths and placement. By actually measuring these requirements for the individual and being able to incorporate them into the design, Essilor are able to offer an enhanced and bespoke product.
Jo Underwood: We are on the North Downs way, so we do a fair amount of walking, particularly round here. Walking in the sunshine is cathartic. I’m Jo Underwood.I’m the principal of ABDO College and a program director at Canterbury Christ Church University. The Varilux X Series is an excellent product for the market place. I've really enjoyed wearing them. I can see for intermediate and I can see for near. They give me that field of view that I need. The advantage of having the progressives on is that if we need to stop and map-read, I have the ability to do that without fumbling around to find a pair of spectacles, and if we want to take photographs it makes it so much easier to do that.
Gordon Batham: It’s a competitive market out there. We try to give patients unique products and high quality optics, and all those sorts of things to actually help differentiate us from the masses. I put them on and they are great: I don’t see any distortions - they just seem brighter. I can walk around; I can access my phone, see it, read it. The lenses in my frame, they're incredibly comfortable: it’s an easy thing to do. The optics seem to be sharp. It’s a really nice lens. We live around about 20 miles away, so we have a three hour commute. The accessibility of being able to drive with comfortable lenses, with good vision - I don’t have to take them off to reverse the car, which has been a complaint with very focals in the past, that’s all gone. They are just really, really functional within that environment.
Andy Chapman: Varilux X Series, for me has, been great. I love wearing the lens, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone else.
