M. Willcox, Sydney, NSW, Australia. Mark Willcox PhD, FBCLA is Professor and Director of Research at the School of Optometry and Vision Science, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. Prof Willcox graduated from the University of Manchester with his PhD in Medical Microbiology in 1987. Since 1988 he has been living in Australia, working initially at the Institute for Dental Research and, since 1993 at the University of New South Wales. Prof Willcox’s main research areas are microbial keratitis and other adverse events associated with contact lens wear, as well as the tear film and ocular comfort during lens wear, and development of new antibiotics and disinfectants. Prof Willcox holds numerous memberships of national and international societies and is a regular reviewer for many peer reviewed journals and granting bodies.
